Well Drew and I had planned to get up bright and early to get out and see everything...only if the weather was actually good. We woke up, saw the pouring rain and jumped back into bed to catch some more zzz's! But once we woke for the second time the sun was shining and we quickly got out there! We decided to head to the Roman forum first, and there we got tickets that got us into the Forum as well as the Colosseum. And here's a glimpse at our time there...

It was all looking so nice, but we new it was too good to be true because along came the dark clouds and rain drops.... Which meant for cloudy, gloomy skies in the backdrop of all of photos of course! =( It was quite discouraging, being in such a wonderful place and having the worst of weather, but no worries we made the best of it!

I just would like to note that I have previously mentioned that Drew and I bartered for some pretty cheap, but make do, umbrellas since we hadn't any. Right, well he had bought a black one right away on the first day, then we decided it was too difficult to share one. Well he went to get one and I yell to him to get a red one because I wanted red not black. We he gets back with a red one but tells me he wants it for himself. So I shrug and I am stuck with the black one. Little did we know that the cute red umbrella would not be so cute after some strong winds....and my good old black one was quite reliable ;)
So here he stands with a square red umbrella, which was disfiguring as I was taking the picture haha. Meanwhile...

Although we were seeing many beautiful ruins and trying our best to enjoy ourselves, Drew was having a lot of trouble with that little red umbrella. Here he is trying to fix it, although there really wasn't much hope.

Then we saw it. (Just a reminder that no matter how terrible things are, they can always be worse...) We see this young kid with this completely mangled umbrella. It honestly was just the funniest thing at that very moment and we burst out into laughter. And Drew realized maybe things weren't thattt bad. The funniest part though, was this kid was with his family, all of which had perfectly intact and nice umbrellas. It was just hilarious, they must have just been like, 'well sorry hunny, life's tough, anyways...' hahah
It's hard to see but literally half the umbrella is missing and a mess. Anyways I just had to share the little details through the day and the hard rain that put smiles on our faces =) And then... the sun came out and alas the rain had stopped for the time being!! Which put even bigger smiles on our faces, see...
So we quickly hurried up to the higher parts of the Forum to explore more and see some great views from above!

And although the clouds were just pouring on us, they really looked beautiful in all of my photos, so I am thankful =) And here are some beautiful details...

The sun looked so great peering onto the parts of the ruins of the arena area and the gardens. (And I apologize if I do not include very many captions of the photos, if you want to know more please just ask! But I honestly think majority of the photos just speak for themselves. And I love that.)

Another side note: So there I am walking around snapping photographs of my beautiful surroundings, and I realize Drew isn't by me. I see him lagging behind somewhere in the distance. And he's got something in his hand and he is standing there doing something for quite a bit. Then he runs down with a big grin on his face to show me that as we passed by this garbage can he spotted this umbrella. He took it out and looked it over and it was completely fine, aside from one small spoke that was stick out through the fabric! I tell you, one man's trash is another mans treasure! =)
He was very happy haha.

We continued on and a got some more photos of the Forum, and also of the Colosseum in the distance. Continuing on, we headed up these stairs to find a beautiful garden area atop the Forum.

And then the sun began to set, shining on all of the ruins making them glow with warmth, shining with their importance and strength.

(The capital building)

Once it got dark we decided we would continue walking through the streets of Rome with the intentions of finding an in expensive place to eat that served spaghetti and lasagna, which we both were craving. The boy got out our map to check our barrings and we continued on to find a most delicious restaurant!!
(Look how cute he looks!)

Our evening ended with taking a stroll along the river, crossing the bridge and taking a look at the surroundings.... It was such a beautiful and peaceful night =D

(That building was apparently from the book/film angels and demons. Our friend Sean who was with us new quite a lot about it, interesting!)

In this square there was an incredibly large tower with many sculptures surrounding it that we from Egyptian times. It was so crazy to see it standing there, being even older than majority of the ruins we had been seeing all day!

And that concludes day two in Rome!
(Which was by far my favorite city to be in, just if anyone was wondering!)
I will be back in the next two days to post about our last day there, then next will be Athens!
Have a wonderful night, xo
p.s. I've been reading this the past two days and I am almost finished!

Has anyone read it, and what are your thoughts!? I am curious to know what your Spring reading has been consisting of? Plus I'd love suggestions on good literature to read for the summer when I am back! =)
