Friday: FREE! =D

So that is my schedule for the next three months. The three day weekends are amazing because it gives us more time to travel. I can also happily say that I planned my first weekend trip the other day. I'm going to Stockholm, Sweden for two nights! They have great free ice skating outside, an architectural and design museum for free as well, and of course the largest ikea haha. I'm excited!!

But as for a few things I have been doing these past few days...

On Saturday Drew and I went to Corso, an ice-cream and dessert place. It was very cozy inside and we had a nice little chat with the older Polish man who owned the shop. We split an irish coffee and tiramisu ice cream in a waffle cone bowl. We were still hungry though and everything looked so good, so we also got a piece of chocolate cake and tried some Polish beer ha. Then the man was so nice he gave us two free treats! They were basically this homemade whip cream filled waffle cone tubes. I don't even like whip cream but they were sooo good!

Drew and I went to a Jazz club later that night, right across from the art supply store we went to the other day for supplies for our water color and freehand drawing courses. A quintet played that night and an older Polish man sang Frank Sinatra, my favorite! It was magical. We also ordered chicken caeser salads, and they were soooo fresh and completely different from back home. Quite fancy, but surprisingly very cheap! The same type of high class meal in America would have cost double!! The food here has been so fresh and delicious, and the price amazes me each time.

On Sunday, our polish friend Kate, brought all of us over 70 home made meat and mushroom perogies that her grandmother made for us. Along with fresh homemade pickles, and a wonderful apple cake!!
Later that night over 25 of us, polish and American students, went to TGIF fridays so we could watch the USA game against Canada. Rafal had mad us reservations so we could sit right in front of the projector. It was a really nice time with everyone, even though we lost!

We have a group presentations due Thursday so I must go work! I'm working on a comparative map analysis between Detroit and Warsaw, while drinking raspberry tea and rum that Brian's (a student from UDM) Russian roommate made me (How nice, huh?) ! I have the start of a cold =/, and my throat is really sore so its working like a charm =)

But here are some other pictures from around the city for you to enjoy...

(These two are photos that Drew took today at our school)

(Last Friday We went up to the top of the Palace of culture, 1st picture below, and took pictures of the city, the last photo is my Urban Design Studio Professor talking about the city)

Dobranoc! (goodnight)
